John has over 20 years of professional business, technology and entrepreneurship experience, and over 10 years of youth sports centric experience and volunteerism.
John is an expert in both mountain biking and snowboarding instruction and riding, with a notable dedication to teaching and fostering growth within these sports communities. His qualifications are a testament to his commitment and expertise in nurturing athletes across different age groups, particularly focusing on the youth.
Cycling Certifications
USA Cycling Level 3 Coach & Team Manager: Certified by USA Cycling, John possesses advanced knowledge in coaching cyclists and managing cycling teams. This qualification reflects his ability to support cyclists in achieving their full potential.
BICP Level 1 - Ride Guide and Fundamental Skills Instructor: Through the Bicycle Instructor Certification Program (BICP), John is trained to lead group rides and instruct on fundamental mountain biking skills, ensuring participants improve their biking abilities in a safe and structured environment.
NICA Level 3 Coach License: As a top-tier coach certified by the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), John specializes in youth cycling development. This license underscores his role in creating a positive, educational, and engaging atmosphere for young cyclists.
Snowboarding Certifications
Snowsports School Certified Snowboard Instructor: John is a certified instructor capable of teaching snowboarding across various skill levels. This certification indicates his proficiency in snowboard instruction, enabling him to guide learners through the nuances of snowboarding with confidence and expertise.
Additionally, John is First Aid and CPR certified, ensuring he is prepared to handle emergencies and maintain the safety and well-being of all participants in his programs.
John's leadership extends to founding Independence Youth Cycling (IYC), a non-profit organization aimed at encouraging more kids to engage in cycling. Through IYC, he leads initiatives that not only support the growth of cycling among the youth but also advocate for environmental stewardship and the sport as a lifelong activity.
